Capital One Arena Reveals New Premium Hospitality Details
The $1 billion-plus transformation will introduce destination bars, a full-length food hall, four distinct hospitality districts, new social spaces, and premium-quality F&B throughout the arena.
Monumental Sports & Entertainment has unveiled new renderings and details for the $1 billion-plus transformation of Capital One Arena, providing the first look at a significantly expanded hospitality and food-and-beverage experience planned across the District Level and Terrace Level. The renovated arena remains on schedule for completion ahead of the 2027-28 NBA and NHL seasons.
Rather than limiting upgraded hospitality to traditional premium inventory, Monumental plans to extend elevated culinary experiences, destination bars, and refined gathering spaces throughout the building. The approach, described by MSE as “Premium for Every Guest,” will make premium-quality food and beverage a central component of the broader arena experience.
The reimagined District Level, currently the 100 Level, will be organized into four distinct districts with new social destinations and Center Stage Bars. On the Terrace Level, currently the 400 Level, a new Food Hall will span the entire length of the arena’s F Street side, substantially expanding the dining and social experience available on the upper level.
The concourses themselves are being redesigned as hospitality destinations rather than simply circulation spaces. New bars, gathering areas, culinary offerings, and views into the seating bowl will be integrated into the fan journey throughout the building.
A centerpiece is the new Visibowl, a first-of-its-kind viewing concept that creates direct sightlines from the heart of the concourse into the arena bowl. The design allows fans to remain connected to the event while visiting food, beverage, and social areas rather than leaving the live experience entirely.
Expanded entrances, additional vertical circulation, and new connections between the District and Terrace Levels are also planned, creating easier movement between hospitality destinations and other areas of the arena.
“Washington is entering an extraordinary new era, and the completely reimagined Capital One Arena will reflect the ambition, energy, and global stature of the city it represents. From our unmatched collection of iconic teams to the storytelling power of Monumental Sports Network, we’re creating an experience in the heart of the nation’s capital that connects fans everywhere, whether they’re visiting from around the world or just a Metro stop away. We’re excited to partner with Capital One, a leading financial institution founded and headquartered right in our backyard, to bring this vision to life in the decades to come.” – Jim Van Stone, President of Business Operations and Chief Commercial Officer, Monumental Sports & Entertainment
The hospitality upgrades are part of a complete redevelopment expected to support approximately 250 events annually. Capital One Arena will remain home to the NHL’s Washington Capitals, NBA’s Washington Wizards, and Georgetown men’s basketball, while hosting select Washington Mystics games, concerts, family shows, and other live entertainment. The arena is also scheduled to host the 2027 NCAA Frozen Four and 2028 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Regional.
The latest announcement also includes a 20-year extension of Capital One’s arena naming-rights agreement. Beginning in fall 2027, Capital One cardholders will receive a new dedicated entrance on F Street available for all arena events, along with special discounts throughout the venue and additional benefits to be announced. The existing cardholder entrance benefit had previously been available only for Capitals and Wizards games.
“Capital One Arena is more than a sports and entertainment venue, it’s a place where people come together to create long-lasting memories and an anchor of Washington, D.C.’s economic and cultural vibrancy. We’re excited to continue our partnership with Monumental and look forward to creating even more opportunities to deliver meaningful experiences for our customers and support the continued vitality of downtown Washington.” – Byron Daub, Vice President, Sponsorships and Experiential Marketing, Capital One
Phase Two construction is currently underway, with the new District Level, Terrace Level, hospitality spaces, and exterior transformation scheduled to debut as part of the arena’s full reopening for the 2027-28 season.
