Tepper Sports & Entertainment is moving ahead with a transformation of Bank of America Stadium that now exceeds $1.3 billion, with new luxury suites and club areas among the changes planned for the home of the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC.

Every seat in the roughly 75,000-seat venue will be replaced, and the project will add new scoreboards and concourses, according to Front Office Sports. The work is expected to reduce overall capacity, though the final seat count and details of the new premium inventory have not been announced. The project is targeted for completion in 2030.

Jake Burns, Chief Strategy & Development Officer, Tepper Sports & Entertainment, told Front Office Sports the team has shifted from calling the project a renovation to calling it a transformation. The work will also reach the stadium’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, he said.

“I think renovation has a certain connotation about it, where you’re just giving it a facelift.” — Jake Burns, Chief Strategy & Development Officer, Tepper Sports & Entertainment

Renderings released by the Panthers in July show new hospitality interiors, expanded indoor-outdoor gathering areas across multiple levels and a social patio on the 500 level overlooking Uptown Charlotte. The plans also include additional food-and-beverage and retail options, more restrooms, flexible event spaces and a redesigned exterior. The team has not released a suite count, club lineup or pricing for the transformed stadium.

Tepper Sports & Entertainment said in July that it had elected to pursue the full optional scope presented to the City of Charlotte, along with additional design enhancements. The city’s contribution remains fixed at $650 million. The company said it will cover potential cost overruns and ongoing maintenance obligations under the agreement.

“The long-term extension with Bank of America reflects the strength of our partnership and our shared commitment to the Carolinas.” — David Tepper, Owner and Chairman, Tepper Sports & Entertainment

Construction is being phased so the Panthers and Charlotte FC can continue to play at Bank of America Stadium. Interior work is underway in 2026, with fan-facing elements scheduled to begin in 2027.
