76ers, Flyers Reveal First Look at New Philadelphia Arena
The privately funded South Philadelphia arena will bring the 76ers, Flyers, and Philadelphia’s WNBA expansion team under one roof in 2030, with Populous and Moody Nolan designing a next-generation venue rooted in the city’s sports history.
The Philadelphia 76ers and Philadelphia Flyers have unveiled the first exterior renderings of their planned new arena in South Philadelphia, offering the first detailed look at a venue scheduled to open in 2030 and serve as the future home of both teams as well as Philadelphia’s WNBA expansion franchise.
The arena is being designed by Populous in collaboration with Moody Nolan and is planned as one of the country’s most technologically advanced and experience-driven sports and entertainment venues. The project will rise on the South Philadelphia Sports Complex site, reconnecting the city’s next major arena with the former home of the Spectrum.
The design shown in the first renderings draws directly from that history. Populous has incorporated a series of stacked, Spectrum-inspired bands into the exterior, reinterpreting the geometry of the former arena at a larger scale and with contemporary materials.
“The Spectrum stood on this ground for over 40 years and became part of Philadelphia’s soul. We chose to build on that, literally and architecturally. The exterior design features a series of stacked Spectrum-shaped bands, a direct reinterpretation of what came before at a scale and in materials that propel the franchises and the city into the future. The building will emit an energy that captivates every spectator and deliver an authentically Philadelphia experience inside.” – Jonathan Mallie, Global Director and Managing Director of the Americas, Populous
The current reveal is primarily focused on the arena’s exterior architecture rather than detailed premium inventory. The project team has not yet publicly released specific counts or concepts for suites, clubs, loge boxes, courtside hospitality, premium F&B, or other named hospitality products. Those elements are expected to emerge as design development continues.

The broader brief, however, is explicitly centered on the fan experience. The first renderings reflect feedback gathered through fan surveys, focus groups, stakeholder engagement, and public review, with continued consultation planned as the project moves through design and approvals.
Populous and Moody Nolan were selected in 2025 by Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment and Comcast Spectacor to lead the arena design. From the outset, the development team has described the project as a purpose-built home for NBA and NHL occupancy with an emphasis on sustainability, multi-functional use, technology, and fan-centered design.
“Together with our partners at Comcast Spectacor, we are excited to welcome Populous and Moody Nolan to help execute on our shared vision for a new arena in South Philadelphia. Our goal has always been clear, to bring the world’s greatest sports and entertainment venue to the City of Philadelphia.” – David Adelman, Limited Partner, Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, and Chairman of the HBSE-Comcast Spectacor joint venture
The arena will be privately funded and is expected to host the 76ers, Flyers, Philadelphia’s new WNBA team, concerts, and other major live events. The project is targeted to open ahead of the WNBA team’s inaugural 2030 season, as well as the respective NBA and NHL seasons.
“Philly fans deserve the best arena in the world, and we are excited to partner with Comcast to deliver just that. This privately funded arena will be the home to moments and memories that define this city for generations.” – Josh Harris, Co-Founder, Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, and Managing Partner, Philadelphia 76ers
The ownership structure also brings another major commercial element into the project. Comcast will hold the naming rights to the new arena, with the venue’s formal name to be announced at a later date.
“This is a new era for Philadelphia sports. To build our future where Ed Snider and the Spectrum made history makes this project truly special. Working with HBSE, we are creating a world-class experience worthy of Philadelphia’s incredible fans.” – Brian Roberts, Chairman, Comcast Corporation
The first exterior reveal establishes the architectural direction and project team, while the most consequential hospitality details remain ahead. The arena’s premium strategy, F&B program, suite and club mix, technology partners, construction team, and interior design approach have not yet been publicly detailed in the sources released to date.
