Skywalker Grill Brings OVG Hospitality and Rockwell Group Design to Lucas Museum
The new signature restaurant pairs Rhubarb Events & Hospitality Collection’s culinary operation with a Rockwell Group-designed dining room, private dining, and panoramic Los Angeles views.
The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art will open Skywalker Grill on September 22, introducing a full-service destination restaurant atop the new Los Angeles museum. Operated by Rhubarb Events & Hospitality Collection, part of Oak View Group, and designed by Rockwell Group, the restaurant will be open to museum visitors and the general public for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.
Skywalker Grill will remain open beyond museum hours, establishing the restaurant as a standalone dining destination in addition to serving museum guests. The restaurant draws inspiration from the hospitality of George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch and pairs classic American cuisine with California-grown ingredients and panoramic views across Los Angeles.
“Skywalker Grill is a natural complement to the Lucas Museum experience, offering an inviting space for guests to connect over great food and conversation before or after visiting our galleries. We are equally excited for it to serve as a destination for Angelenos from across the city to enjoy exceptional hospitality and beautiful surroundings.” – Tracey Bates, CEO, Lucas Museum of Narrative Art
The menu includes shareable dishes such as Dungeness Crab Cakes and Lobster Corn Dogs, along with Crispy Chicken Milanese, Honey Miso Glazed Salmon, and the Skywalker Ranch Wagyu Burger. House-made pastas, seasonal salads, and a curated beverage program round out the offering.

“We are incredibly honored to have been part of this remarkable project, and we set out to create a dining experience worthy of it. The menu is inventive yet approachable, designed to welcome everyone. The restaurant’s beautiful interiors and thoughtful service were conceived to make it a true Los Angeles destination: a warm, museum-minded hospitality experience that keeps Angelenos and visitors coming back again and again. It is both a tribute to the museum’s creative energy and a wonderful reason to dine out.” – Katie Harel, Managing Director, Rhubarb Hospitality Collection / Oak View Group Hospitality
Rockwell Group’s Los Angeles office designed the restaurant with a mix of contemporary and Midcentury Modern influences. Individually crafted cherry wood panels wrap the walls and ceiling, while illuminated white onyx Corian surfaces add light throughout the dining room. A sculptural central bar anchors the main space, surrounded by smaller seating areas.
The hospitality program extends into a dedicated private dining room featuring switch-glass walls that can transition from clear to frosted for privacy. An outdoor terrace is integrated into the surrounding landscaping and provides additional dining space overlooking Los Angeles. The rendering included with the announcement shows the extensive cherry wood treatment, sculptural ceiling forms, central bar, and combination of banquette and table seating planned for the restaurant.
“The Lucas Museum celebrates the power of storytelling, and we wanted Skywalker Grill to become part of that narrative. Our design echoes the museum’s craftsmanship and innovation while introducing moments of intimacy, warmth, and surprise. From the glowing Corian surfaces to the handcrafted cherry wood detailing, every element was designed to create a sense of wonder that feels tactile and welcoming.” – David Rockwell, Founder and President, Rockwell Group
Skywalker Grill becomes a hospitality component of a much larger new cultural destination in Los Angeles’ Exposition Park. The 300,000-square-foot Lucas Museum of Narrative Art was designed by Ma Yansong of MAD with Stantec and sits within a new 11-acre campus that includes a park designed by Mia Lehrer of Studio-MLA.
Reservations for Skywalker Grill are now available ahead of its September 22 opening.
