Seattle Sounders FC Refines ‘First Match On Us’ Program
The updated acquisition program pairs free first-match tickets with new automation, a custom reservation system, and near real-time campaign orchestration as Sounders FC looks to convert more first-time attendees into long-term fans ahead of a major soccer year in Seattle.
Seattle Sounders FC is rolling out the next phase of its First Match On Us program for 2026, building on the initiative’s first year with a more automated and data-driven operating model designed to improve efficiency, flexibility, and conversion. The public-facing offer remains straightforward: eligible fans who have never attended a Sounders home match can register for up to two free tickets, select from available matches, confirm closer to matchday, and then receive their seats through the Sounders FC App, Ticketmaster App, or Ticketmaster Account Manager.

Behind that fan offer, the club is now describing a significantly more sophisticated infrastructure. In a LinkedIn post outlining the 2026 evolution of the program, the Sounders said the next phase includes a custom, near-real-time event-driven system, a new reservation platform that gives fans more flexibility closer to matchday, and an automated fan journey spanning SMS, email, and app push notifications. The club said that orchestration removes four to five hours of manual campaign preparation each week, shifting the program toward a zero-touch workflow inside its internal environment.
The updated reservation and confirmation model is also reflected in the club’s public program flow. Eligible participants receive a text message shortly after registering with a link to view available matches, can reserve up to two free tickets, and are then asked to confirm attendance closer to the event before seats are assigned and delivered. Fans can also add paid tickets for larger groups, cancel and rebook a different eligible match, and receive tickets one to two days before the event after confirmation.
The Sounders’ FAQ makes clear that a reservation alone does not guarantee seats, and that tickets are only delivered after the confirmation step is completed, a structure that likely helps the club manage no-shows and improve yield on a free-ticket acquisition program. That is an inference based on the published reservation and confirmation flow.
The broader business objective is fan development at a time when Seattle is moving toward a major global soccer window in 2026. The Sounders frame the program as a way to introduce more people to the sport and create first-time stadium experiences that can deepen into longer-term engagement. On the consumer side, the club markets the offer around free first-match access, special activations and giveaways, and what it calls an exclusive First Matchday Guide curated for attendees entering through the program.
