# Las Vegas Raiders and Grimshaw Reimagine Allegiant Stadium’s North Plaza

The **Las Vegas Raiders** are reimagining the north side of **Allegiant Stadium** as a new arrival and gathering district, replacing two surface parking lots with an elevated pedestrian deck, shaded public plaza, transportation hub and flexible event space designed by **Grimshaw**.

The project, known as **North Plaza**, is intended to address one of the stadium’s most visible operational pressure points: the flow of guests approaching from the Las Vegas Strip via the W. Hacienda Avenue bridge. The Raiders and Grimshaw are positioning the development as more than an access improvement. It is a redesign of the time fans spend before entering the venue.

The $158 million plan received $75 million in public funding from the **Las Vegas Stadium Authority**, with the Raiders funding the balance. Construction is expected to begin after the 2026 NFL season and is targeted for completion in late 2028 or before **Super Bowl LXIII** at Allegiant Stadium in 2029.

Grimshaw’s design creates a raised pedestrian deck extending from the Hacienda Avenue overpass to the stadium’s north gate. The deck will provide a more direct, legible path for arriving guests while lifting the principal pedestrian experience above the mobility functions below.

Under the deck, the project will consolidate pick-up and drop-off activity into a dedicated rideshare zone. A large canopy will shade guests entering the stadium and provide a stage for smaller concerts and programmed events. The plaza is also planned to accommodate gatherings beyond game day, giving the Raiders a more flexible public-facing environment around a venue that hosts NFL games, UNLV football, concerts and major special events.

**Andrew Byrne**, Partner at **Grimshaw**, framed the project as an effort to turn stadium-adjacent land into part of the entertainment experience rather than treating it as dormant infrastructure.

The project also creates a planned connection to **The Boring Company**’s **Vegas Loop** network. A future station is expected to provide another mobility option for guests traveling to and from Allegiant Stadium, joining the pedestrian deck and rideshare zone as part of a more multimodal arrival strategy.

That combination reflects a growing priority for large sports and entertainment venues: the guest journey increasingly starts well before a ticket scan. For properties located in dense urban or destination environments, arrival routes, wait times, curb access, shade, wayfinding, and pre-event dwell time can shape both satisfaction and commercial opportunity.

The Raiders have identified the north side of Allegiant Stadium as a capacity constraint. Fans walking from the Strip often converge at the Hacienda bridge and northern entry, creating a concentrated arrival experience at one of the building’s busiest approaches.

North Plaza is designed to separate and organize those movements while creating a stronger visual and functional connection between the stadium and the Strip. The elevated deck provides a protected pedestrian route; the lower level supports vehicle circulation; and the covered plaza creates a place for fans to stay rather than simply pass through.

For the Raiders, the project expands the operational footprint of Allegiant Stadium without changing the building itself. It turns previously utilitarian surface lots into a front-door experience that can support arrival, transportation, security, event programming and destination development in a single connected environment.

The larger takeaway for venue operators is that the most valuable redevelopment opportunities may sit just outside the gates. As teams look for ways to improve guest flow, extend event-day revenue and build year-round relevance, the parking and circulation areas surrounding a venue are increasingly becoming programmable parts of the fan experience.
